Biographies:
Matt Cherry, Radnor, Sr., Attack: Cherry finished his scholastic career as one of the most prolific scorers in school history. His 39 goals led the Red Raiders, as did his 37 assists. Cherry was recognized with first team All-Central, All-State and All-American honors and will continue playing lacrosse at Dickinson College.
Cody Isdaner, Episcopal Academy, Sr., Attack: One of the most dangerous scorers in the state, Isdaner finished with 44 goals, third best among Delaware County-based schools. A first team All-Inter-Ac and All-State selection, Isdaner will play next season at Wagner College.
Eric Warden, Garnet Valley, Jr., Attack: Making his second appearance on the All-Delco squad, Warden was the top goal scorer for a balanced and surprising Jaguars team finishing the season with 33 tallies to help Garnet Valley reach the state playoffs for the first time. Also a first-team All-Central choice, Warden has made a verbal commitment to attend Fairfield University in 2010.
Josh Cavanaugh, Springfield, Jr., Midfield: Recognized nationally for his play as a midfielder, Cavanaugh switched positions midway through the season to play attack after a teammate was injured and all he did was guide the Cougars to the state semifinals. Cavanaugh finished the season with 36 goals, was named co-MVP of the Central League and was also recognized with All-State and All-American honors.
Zack Donnelly, Radnor, Sr., Midfield: A returning All-Delco, Donnelly was an effective short stick for the Raiders and was a key ingredient to their success this season. Donnelly finished with 26 goals and was named first team All-Central and first team All-State. He will attend Rutgers University in the fall.
Tyler Johnston, Ridley, Jr., Midfield: Johnston again finds himself on the All-Delco team after another superb campaign for a young and upcoming Green Raiders squad. He finished fourth in the county in scoring with 43 goals and was also named first-team All-Central, All-State and All-American. He has made a verbal commitment to attend Georgetown University beginning in 2010.
Liam O’Connor, Haverford School, Jr., Midfield: Considered one of the best faceoff men in the state, O’Connor helped spearhead a second-half resurgence that saw a young Fords team turn a 6-6 start into a 16-8 finish that included a regular-season Inter-Ac title and a victory in the inaugural conference showcase tournament. O’Connor also finished with 16 goals and was named first team All-Inter-Ac, All-State and All-American. He has made a verbal commitment to attend Notre Dame in 2010.
Joe Addona, Springfield, Jr., Longstick: One of the better longstick midfielders in the region, Addona took a leadership role in his junior season with the Cougars that helped them improve drastically on the defensive side of the ball and reach the state semifinals, in which he scored a goal that tied the score with top-ranked Conestoga at halftime. Addona was also selected as first team All-Central and All-State as a longstick midfielder.
Tyler Anderson, Radnor, Sr., Longstick: Rounding out his scholastic career, Anderson was looked upon as one of the more daunting defensemen in the state because of his combination of size, speed and skill. Considering longsticks are not usually offensive-minded, Anderson’s four goals this season are emblematic of his diverse skills. A first-team All-Central and All-State selection, Anderson will continue his lacrosse career at Notre Dame.
Jackson Place, Episcopal Academy, Jr., Longstick: When asked what it’s like to play against Jackson Place, one local coach said, “Go ask the nail what it’s like to meet the hammer.” Considered one of the best shut down defensemen in the country as a junior, Place will have several collegiate opportunities on his doorstep as he enters his senior season. Place was named first team All-Inter-Ac, All-State and All-American.
