Catholic League v Central League The Cougars generated attention with their OT win over Conestoga, but needed 2 OTs to get past St. Joe's. Meanwhile, LaSalle is all the recent rage in the national polls, having beaten Georgetown Prep in the Checking for Cancer Tournament at Haverford School on 4/17, a win with gravitas to afficionados with an eye on the national scene. LaSalle has leapfrogged over both Haverford School and Stoga in the regional and national rankings and has played well as a team. Springfield would like to turn some heads with a statement win of its own, evidently the 4-3 OT victory over Stoga did not suffice. The game with the Explorers will give the Cougars a chance to redeem themselves after having lost early in the year to a fair-to-midland but credible Virginia team - St. Anne's-Bellfield - a loss that hangs on them like an albatross from the standpoint of getting respect in the rankings. LaSalle is always poised and confident, which you would expect from a 2-time defending state champion. Springfield will need to keep its composure and battle all the way to win the game. You don't want to miss this game, potentially a preview of what's to come in the PIAA tournament!
